Best Ads of Valentine’s Day 2014

As always on Valentine’s Day, every brand in every possible category tries to come up with some awesome, romantic, emotional and touchy promotional offers as well as advertising. This time also there are many video ads which are created by some very innovative thinking by some of the best creative ad agencies. So here is my top 4 ads for Valentine’s Day 2014. Have a look.

1. Sanskaari Valentine’s Day

Ohhhhh! Our beloved babuji (Alok Nath) who became viral last month on all social media platforms with funny anecdotes on him from tweets, memes and videos. Let’s face it, Mr. Alok Nath has been omnipresent.

On this Valentine’s Day channel 9XM came up with a very funny ad starring Alok Nathji who talks about how to celebrate Valentine’s day with sanskar. The ad also features 9XM’s ever popular chhote and bade characters in it.

2. You – A Declaration of Love by Schwarzkopf Nectra Color

This Schwarzkopf ad is one of the best ads I have ever seen, which really adds some more romance to your love and makes you feel something in your heart. The best part of this ad is the narration of a story which goes extremely well with the video. A very well executed ad which is for each and every special woman on this earth after all as the ad says, “LOVE CREATES BEAUTY, NOT JUST ON VALENTINE ’S DAY”

Agency: BBDO Proximity Dusseldorf

3. British Airways India – Go further to get closer

After seeing this ad I bet you any Indian housewife will get emotional probably even a youth would. Behind any successful campaign there is a good story but again it depends how well the story is executed on a platform which suits it. In this ad the whole story is about a busy working man and his wife who is a home maker. They don’t get enough privacy because of their joint family. So British Airways thought of this and gifted an all expenses paid trip to London and gave them precious moments of Valentine’s Day. Brilliantly executed, hats off to Ogilvy India, the agency behind this brilliant work.  Surely these type of promotions will help BA to connect with Indian youth who have reasonably good disposable income to travel abroad.

Agency: Ogilvy India

4. Nestle Alpino True Valentine Tales – The Puppy

As Alpino Chocolate’s brand idea is about “To Love Is To Share,” on this Valentine’s Day their digital campaign has something unique and different to show their consumers. Where the whole idea is how two warm hearts came close because of their love for pets. I liked their approach especially the way they portrayed how love for similar things made them come closer and eventually lifelong partners. This particular video was published on YouTube on February 10th and so far it has reached 9,95,213 views. It was also promoted through twitter with the hashtag  #toloveistoshare where people are asked to share their real valentine stories and be a part of the campaign.

Agency: JWT India

But seeing all these ads makes me wonder are they trying to manipulate us by showing these super-duper emotional ads. Comment which is your favorite ad?
